video transcript

I don’t think it takes too much thinking to conclude that if we are an individual, a single person, surrounded by friends, family, colleagues, even strangers that what we give can never match the amount that we receive. There is only one of us whereas we are surrounded by many who love and support us.

And yet many of us live our lives as if we are deprived, as if we are poor, as if we receive so little.

Because, to many of us, we only consider receiving when it involves material things such as money. We forget that what we receive each and every day includes much more than we can touch with our hand or see with our eyes.

Similarly, we only consider ourselves rich when we have more than enough money to live comfortably, financially. And yet each and every one of us is rich beyond our imagination, if we only open our eyes and look beyond the material things in life.

Look beyond the material trappings that are associated with richness. Consider the non-materialistic, the intangible blessings that are showered on you every day.

For everyday we have enough oxygen to breathe and keep us alive, everyday we receive love from near and dear ones, everyday we receive support and guidance from friends and colleagues.

What about the smile that a stranger gave you in passing?

What about the simple gestures of “hello”, “enjoy your day”, “thank you” that someone said to you?

What about the hug you received from a friend when you needed support?

What about the love you know you have from family and friends, without ever having to hear them confirm it to you?

What about the greeting you receive from your pets, your kids, your partner when you arrive home after a long and tiring day?

When we express gratitude for the everyday things that bless our lives, the things that we take most for granted, only then can we realise and truly acknowledge that we receive much more than we give.

Richness isn’t measured by the amount of money you have in the bank. Richness isn’t measured by the size of your house, the speed of your car, or the label on your clothes. That’s superficial richness.

True, authentic, genuine richness is when you grasp that every day you receive much more physically, energetically, emotionally and spiritually than you could ever, with the very best of intentions, give.

When you are truly grateful for everything you receive every day. When you are truly grateful for everything you take for granted. Then, and only then, can you experience true riches.

daily gratitude practice

Think of all the people and animals in your life who support and love you.

Imagine them forming a spiral around you, a spiral that starts small and grows as it circles around you.

How large is that spiral?

How may layers does that spiral contain?

Express gratitude for all the people and animals that support and love you.

Express gratitude for 10 material things that you have received this past week.

Express gratitude for 10 non-material things that you have received this past week.

Was it easier to create a list of non-material things or material things?

And when you started to list the non-material things, did you start to uncover more and more that, before, you would not have considered expressing gratitude for?

Express gratitude for 5 things that enrich your life in a physical manner.

Express gratitude for 5 things that enrich your life in an emotional manner.

Express gratitude for 5 things that enrich your life in a psychological manner.

Express gratitude for 5 things that enrich your life in a spiritual or energetic manner.

how to download your wallpaper

Before copying one of the pictures below, you'll want to quickly check your screen settings because the worst thing you can do is use a wallpaper with an aspect ratio that differs from the aspect ratio of your screen.

The aspect ratio of a rectangle is simply the proportion between width and height. The most common are 16:9, 16:10 and 4:3. And it will be for these 3 sizes that I shall provide you with your free wallpaper.

To find your screen resolution follow this basic guide. Steps for your computer may vary slightly but I hope this will give you some guidance:

  • Right-click the desktop and select Display settings.
  • Scroll down until you see "Resolution" (you may have to choose an "Advanced" option)
  • To find your aspect ratio, divide the width over the height. For example, if my resolution is 1920 x 1080 then I would divide 1920 over 1080 to get 1.778, which indicates a 16:9 resolution. Similarly, 1.6 indicated 16:10 and 1.333 indicates 4:3
  • When you've calculated your screen's aspect ratio, go to the picture below that matches that size
  • Right click on the picture and select "Set as Desktop Background"
  • Choose whether to "Fill", "Fit", or "Stretch" your picture - if you've chosen the right size "Fit" will be your best option
  • Select "Set Desktop Background" and you're done

  • First, save the wallpaper image to your phone by pressing your finger on the wallpaper image and hold down on it until you see a menu.
  • From here, click the “Save image” tab, and it will begin downloading.
  • The next step is to set this saved image as your wallpaper by pressing and holding a blank area on your screen (meaning where no apps are placed), and home screen options will appear.
  • Select 'add wallpaper' and choose whether the wallpaper is intended for 'Home screen', 'Lock screen', or 'Home and lock screen'.
  • Another set of options will appear where you can choose where the photo you would like to use will be coming from, namely the Gallery.
  • If necessary, crop the image to a suitable size. Once satisfied, simply click 'Done'.

  • First, save the wallpaper image to your phone by pressing your finger on the wallpaper image and hold down for about 2 seconds until a menu appears.
  • From here, click “Save Image“, and it will begin downloading.
  • The next step is to set this saved image as your wallpaper by, first, going to the 'Photos' app and selecting the wallpaper photo you've saved there.
  • Click on the share icon on the lower left corner of the screen, then select 'Use as Wallpaper'.
  • Then choose to set the photo as either the lock screen, home screen or both.
